An insight into the definition of cheating.

INTRODUCTION:
Cheating can be used in several situations, for this particular paper we will be looking specifically at cheating in relation to relationships. Does it apply only to couples that are still 'together' or does it go as far as being considered when a couple has broken up. We will be looking at definitions from a dictionary followed with our own thoughts on the topic.

Aim: To understand the definition of cheating.

Problem Statement: If one has broken up then had a 'fling' is that considered as cheating?

Hypothesis: One needs partner to cheat.

Variables:
Manipulated variable: The person that does the fling.

Responding variable: Definition of cheating due to the fling after the break up.

Controlled variable: No cheating done.

Procedure:

Cheating

adjective
1. Not faithful to a spouse or lover; "adulterous husbands and wives"; "a two-timing boyfriend" [syn: adulterous]

Data and observation: SPOUSE OR LOVER, therefore cheating does not relate to single people.

Interpreting Data:
1. Cheating does not relate to single people such as people that has broken up with their spouse or are no longer in a relationship.
2. One is unable to cheat when he or she is single.

Disscussion:
1. Is it correct to consider it as cheating when a couple has broken up or does the individual consider it as cheating due to the individual having problems with the individual's own personality?
2. How to encourage the effected individuals to move on and leave their ex spouses be?
3. What is it that encourages people to keep a hold of what is no longer theirs and to obsess about it unhealthily?

Conclusion:
Hypothesis is accepted.

Note: We would have to look into The Friends (the tv series) situation where Ross and Rachel were on a break but Rachel took it to heart and did not want to forgive Ross for going out with someone else.
